Primary completion rate: is the percentage of students completing the last year of primary education. It is calculated as the total number of students in the last grade of primary education, minus the number of repeaters in that grade, divided by the total number of children of official graduation age.
Primary school pupil-teacher ratio: is the number of pupils enrolled in primary school divided by the number of primary school teachers (regardless of their teaching assignment)
This Data Portal is an initiative of the African Child Policy Forum (ACPF), a pan-African institution of policy research and advocacy on children intended to foster dissemination and utilisation of data on children in Africa in the formulation and implementation of laws, policies and programmes pertaining to children. It aims to provide credible, up-to-date, and complete data on issues related to children’s rights and wellbeing for all countries of Africa.
The primary audiences of the Data Portal are governments, regional bodies such as the African Union, treaty bodies, civil society organisations, academia and other national and regional organizations working for children.
This Portal contains data and information on a number of child-related indicators across a range of thematic topics including:
